About Caroline Fitch

Hi there! My name is Caroline. And I am so happy you are here! I am a metalsmith from small town PA. I love creating work about animals. I combine illustration and metalwork to create a unique piece of jewelry. I make a lot of production work to sell at markets but I also am working some bigger contemporary projects as well.

When I am not in my metals studio, I have found my self painting murals for the local community, working on my travel van to transport my metalwork and me to all these shows, and reading or listening to paranormal podcasts.

About The Lavender Hare.co

Brooches for ALL occasions

Brooches are for everybody, for all occasions. No matter what event, how you wear it, who is wearing it, the brooch is the perfect compliment to any outfit. On your hat, your shirt, or bag, a brooch is my favorite way to add some personal style to any outfit. I created Lavender Hare to be a hub for creative animal lovers, whimsy inspired magical folk, and jewelry enthusiasts to get their hands on a one-of-a-kind handmade pin.

To me, jewelry is a relationship to the body. It is really important to me that the work I create, whether it be conceptual or production work, is seen on the body. The way that jewelry is worn can deeply impact the way it is viewed.  How do others view it when someone is wearing it casually vs in a museum. I really like taking photos of my work. I think many people think of a white background or a simple blank canvas for modeling a piece of jewelry. And for some, that is what is needed. But for me, the work I create cannot exist without the wearer. When we explore the relationship between the art and the person, of what it means to wear something, we learn that jewelry goes beyond self expression. When I separate jewelry from the wearer, the meaning gets lost for me. Jewelry cannot exist without the wearer.

A symbol you will often see in my work is the rabbit. Rabbits are small prey animals in nature, but to me, I see them as a symbol to the complexities of womanhood. People view rabbits as small, pure, and, innocent while also being associated with sex, and fertility, think the playboy bunny, Jessica Rabbit, or even sex toys. Loving my womanhood is hard sometimes, but I like to imagine that my work creates a new symbol. RESILIENCE. I want to create work that embraces all those complex parts and says that no matter how it’s viewed, we can survive and thrive.

To fully embrace that I was born a rabbit.

ANYONE can be born a rabbit.

ANYONE can learn to love themselves and embrace all those multifaceted, complex parts of existence.

What animal are you?
